These photos are obviously doctored up, but only to place the background and to hide the holding pins. The planes themselves are untouched.
I use these planes to run a miniatures version of Avalon Hill's board game "Mustangs." Small extendable antennas are screwed to bases and an alligator clip mounted to the end. Each plane has a pin with a large round head inserted below the cockpit for the clip to grab. This allows pitching and rolling the plane on the table. (see the last picture).
